Abstract
Lower eyelid lacerations resulting from dog bites present a unique and challenging clinical scenario due to their delicate anatomy and potential aesthetic and functional consequences. We present a case of a 19-year-old male who sustained a lower eyelid laceration following a dog bite and came to ophthalmology emergency. The patient complained of constant watering. On examination, there was 2cm*1cm*1cm laceration at the medial aspect of left lower lid, causing complete laceration of left lower canaliculi. The visual acuity, anterior and posterior segment examination of both eyes were within normal limit. Subsequently, the laceration was repaired by stent placement, using a 24 gauge cannula, aiming to restore the continuity of the duct and facilitate proper tear drainage. The stent placement technique ensured the accurate alignment of the lower eyelid tissues. On subsequent follow up visits, syringing revealed patency.
