FP2874 : Conjunctival rotational autograft fixation using autologous blood in primary pterygium

Abstract

Study design- Prospective interventional hospital based study
Purpose- To study the success (non recurrence) rate of conjunctival rotational autograft fixation using autologous blood in primary pterygium.
Method- 30 eyes of 30 patients with primary pterygium with corneal encroachment of at least 2mm, after taking informed consent underwent pterygium excision with conjunctival rotational autograft fixation using autologous blood and were followed up for 3 months.
Results- Out of 30 patients 2 had graft loss, 1 had graft displacement, 3 had inflammatory granuloma and only 1 patient had recurrence.
Conclusion- Within a study period of 3 months out of the remaining 28 patients with graft only 1 patient developed recurrent pterygium. Hence success rate of the study was 96.42%.
