FP2876 : Goldenhar Chronicles: Decoding paediatric enigmas.

Abstract

Goldenhar syndrome is a rare developmental anomaly involving first and second branchial arches, hence termed as Oculoauriculovertebral syndrome (OAV syndrome). It has an incidence between 1:3500 to 1:5600. Here we report a case of 7 year old female patient presented with complaint of yellowish brown mass in left eye since birth. On examination she has visual acuity of 6/6 in her Right eye (OD) and 6/6p in her left eye (OS). Anterior segment of OD was normal while OS revealed an epibulbar lumbar dermoid infero temporally with hair strands over it along with a sub conjunctival lipodermoid in supero temporal fornix. Fundus examination of both eyes was normal. On Facial examination, symmetry was normal with the characteristic pre auricular appendage evident with a high arched palate. She had no other systemic complaints or features. Since the lumbar dermoid did not cause significant astigmatism nor was it involving any corneal layers, patient was advised regular monitoring.
