VT0518 : PARS PLANA VITRECTOMY WITH CMT FLEX IOL FOR POST TRAUMATIC DISLOCATION OF CRYSTALLINE LENS

Abstract

50/male with post traumatic aphakia with posteriorly dislocated crystalline lens with secondary glaucoma with visual acuity of counting fingers. IOP -28 mmhg, was referred to us for vitreoretinal surgery.
We planned for parsplana vitrectomy with phacofragmentation with CMT FLEX IOL (hydrophilic material, optic- 6.00 mm and has flexible T-shaped haptics.)
After doing pars plana vitrectomy and phaco fragmentation. 3*3 mm scleral flaps are made at 3 and 9 o clock positions oriented diametrically opposite using Toric marker. entry is made 1.5 mm from limbus using MVR blade and the T haptic exteriorized using max grip forceps. flaps are apposed and conjunctiva closed using fibrin glue.
The T acts as a valve which flex itself while exteriorization and opens with a click but it will not slip back inside and has better centration and lesser chance of IOL tilt and iris contact.
this innovative technology helps in easy exteriorization of haptics which is easy to learn for fellows and residents.
