Abstract
Study Design : Prospective Interventional Study Purpose: To compare efficacy of ICL implantation with and without the use of an OVD. Methods: Patients undergoing ICL implantation with use of an OVD (OVD group) and BSS (hydro group) were included. Refractive error, ECD, IOP, vault height and anterior chamber reaction were evaluated at day 1 & 15, 3 & 6 months postop. IOP and vault height were checked 1 hour postop and surgical time was noted. Results: OVD and hydro group comprised 50 eyes each. At 1 hour postop, mean IOP in OVD group and hydro group was 24.6 ± 3.09 and 18.1 ± 2.64 mmhg (P=0.00). There was no significant difference in IOP between 2 groups at other follow-ups. Surgical time was significantly shorter for the hydro group (P = 0.00). There was no significant difference in vault, ECD, or refraction between 2 groups at 6 month follow-up. One eye underwent ICL rotation at 10 days and 1 eye required antiglaucoma treatment in OVD group. No adverse events noted in hydro group.
