FP3006 : Anterior Segment reconstruction with Artificial Iris & Toric SFIOL in traumatic globe rupture repair

Abstract

We present a innovative technique of reconstruction of anterior segment in an eye with globe rupture-complete loss of Iris tissue & IOL was expulsed out.First step involved globe rupture repair.6 months later he underwent mapping of other eye iris to create an artificial iris made up of hydrophobic silicone elastomer.Post op he had 5 Diopters of cylinder, aphakia, aniridia & epiretinal membrane. Patient underwent Vitrectomy membrane peel with Scleral fixation of a toric intraocular lens with goretex suture – Anterior to it silicone fibre based artificial iris was fixated to sclera using 4 point anchoring technique with goretex suture .Postoperative result showed satisfactory Visual rehabilitation of the patient with resolution of photophobia and reduction of cylinder to -0.75 with unaided 6/12 vision, quiet anterior chamber with normal intraocular pressure which was maintained until 1 year follow up.This is an innovative technique for traumatic aniridia & aphakia with astigmatism
