Abstract
Ophthalmic Surgeons wish to be well versed with all surgical instruments, but often have no access to many. We designed 3D models of various ophthalmic instruments which can be examined in augmented reality using a smartphone or VR(Virtual Reality) headset with low cost 6 Degree-of-Freedom wireless controller.
In addition, we made 3D printed physical models of various instruments. We made these designs open source and uploaded free on NIH 3D and Thingiverse. We made 3D models of various surgical instruments including, CTR, CTS, b-hex, choppers, sickle chopper, vectis, dialer, phaco probe, iris repositor, AC maintainer, AADI (Aurolab Aqueous Drainage Implant), i-nova, canabrava ring, speculum and more. Anyone around the world can download our designs, 3D print them and practice in WetLab. Several innovators in India & abroad have embraced this CAD(Computer Aided Design) technology with VR and for developing their innovative instruments and devices bringing on an innovation revolution.
