VT0445 : Managing total cataract capsulotomy with Precision Pulse Capsulotomy technology

Abstract

Anterior capsulotomy is a very important step for successful cataract surgery. To have a repeatable, round, well centered rhexis is challenging for surgeons especially in cases of total cataract, intumescent cataract, and small pupils. We describe the surgical tips and tricks for successful capsulotomy in cataracts using Precision Pulse Capsulotomy (PPC) technology. In this video, we showcase the use of a PPC device in challenging cases of cataract surgery like small pupil and intumescent mature cataracts when using the phacoemulsification technique and IOL implantation. We also describe the various surprises faced during the learning phase and the ways to handle them.
