Abstract

Three complex cataract cases will be demonstrated.First, typical iris coloboma with cataract wherein phacoemulsification was done along with capsular tension ring implantation and pupilloplasty. Second is of management of traumatic cataract along with intralenticular iron foreign body removal. Third case is of traumatic subluxated cataract with inferior iridodialysis for which cataract extraction with anterior vitrectomy with scleral fixated intraocular lens implantation with iridodialysis repair was done. Some take home points highlighted- High degree of suspicion, counselling, posterior segment involvement to be ruled out, stain the capsule for better visualisation, low parameter phacoemulsification to prevent high octane drama, not to let the anterior chamber to collapse suddenly, liberal use of viscoelastic, modify your surgical technique and instruments as and when needed, and last but not the least keep your fingers crossed and hope for a good outcome!!
