VT0323 : MSICS PRO

Abstract

Topical cataract surgeries have revolutionised the way we do and give a painless experience to the patient.Topical Phacoemulsification is the gold standard for cataract surgery everywhere. This video demonstrates the Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery(MSICS) done topically with minimum tissue handling and collateral damage. If we can pass on the benefit to the patients, even MSICS can give good results post-operatively.The eye is quiet at the end of surgery and there is no need to patch the eye as well. The patient can get back to his routine work within 48hrs.MSICS PRO gives you an experience similar to phacoemulsification in most of the cataracts done routinely.A few cases like hard cataract, small pupil, deep set eyes, pseudo exfoliation, coloboma may need sub-tenons anaesthesia for the desired effect. The wound is well approximated by the conjunctiva. As it is a machine independent procedure, it is cost effective and economically sustainable surgery in the future.
