Abstract
Amblyopia therapy, in recent times, has expanded beyond its traditional limits of optical rehabilitation, occlusion therapy and penalization. Newer modalities have emerged based on a better understanding of binocular nature of vision and neural mechanisms involved in amblyopia. Perceptual learning is a concept relying on repeated performance of simple tasks, translating to an improvement of visual acuity. Dichoptic training involves presenting a single visual stimulus to each eye independently, so as to overcome binocular suppression. Scope of amblyopia therapy has since expanded from being an endeavor essentially limited to children, to involve adult ages. This is achieved via software-based programs, involved in providing exercises either in office or remotely. This instruction course provides an overview of various modalities available, their applications in clinical practice, our experience with the same and relevance to both pediatric ophthalmologist and the general practitioner.
