IC0255 : Managing Strabismus: Basic to Complex Cases

Abstract

The course will deal with the management of various types of strabismus using a case-based approach including surgical videos explaining new surgical procedures.
The approach to esotropia will include non-surgical management and timing and surgical plan in infantile esotropia. Intermittent Divergent Strabismus will be discussed in terms of non-surgical management options and the timing of surgical intervention. Duane syndrome is one of the most complex types of strabismus and needs an individualized management plan. A broad overview of planning and implementation will be discussed. The course will provide a case-based approach to complicated paralytic cases like III nerve palsy and VI nerve palsy. Numerous innovations in their management, like NTSLR and medial wall anchor for III nerve palsy; transposition procedures, and muscle belly transfer for VI nerve palsy, have recently been reported. Indications and relative advantages of each procedure will be discussed in this course.
