FP0985 : Transpupillary thermotherapy for juxtapapillary and subfoveal choroidal hemangiomas

Abstract

Purpose: To report outcomes of TTT for treating circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas (CCH) involving subfoveal and/or juxtapapillary areas
Methods: Four eyes of 4 patients with juxtapapillary or subfoveally located CCHs were retrospectively analysed. TTT was performed sparing the disc margin and foveal area. Main outcome measure was change in BCVA. Secondary outcomes were reduction in tumor thickness, central macular thickness and SRF on OCT
Results: CCH involved subfoveal region (n=1), disc margin (n=2) or both (n=1). Median baseline tumor thickness was 3mm (2-3.5mm). Number of TTT sessions ranged from 1-3 (median 1.5). At final follow-up [ median 6months (range 5-7months], median LogMAR BCVA improved from 0.6 (0.3-1.1) to 0.4 (0.1-1). All eyes showed significant reduction in tumor thickness on USG, and CMT on OCT with complete resolution of SRF
Conclusions: TTT can be an effective therapeutic option for subfoveal and peripapillary CCH with a disc margin and fovea sparing approach
