Abstract
Study Design: A surgical innovation.
Purpose: To report a novel surgical technique and an innovative implant for canalicular stenting for post traumatic canalicular repair
Method: We developed a novel surgical technique for canalicular repair by inserting a 26 gauge plastic sleeve of pediatric intravenous cannula utilising 27 gauge metal irrigation cannula as a guiding tool.
Result: In our experience 26G IV Cannula catheter has proven to be an effective and economical alternative for canalicular lacerations with excellent surgical success.
Conclusion:This innovation of 26G IV Cannula catheter used as a stent for monocanalicular repair utilising 27G metal irrigation cannula as a guiding tool can be proved as a significant cost effective alternative to standard mono canalicular stents.
