Abstract

to report and describe an unusual case of a patient who has presented with optic disc pit and choroidal coloboma in same eye without macular involvement .
13 year old child presented to ophthalmology OPD ,regional eye hospital, kurnool with complaints of diminution of vision in both eyes .on examination vision in right eye 6/36 left eye 6/36 improved to 6/6 in both eyes .anterior segment findings was found to be normal. on fundus examination of right eye revealed temporal optic disc pit and retino-choroidal coloboma 1 disc diopter inferior and away from optic disc not involving the macula.
optic disc pit thought to be result of incomplete closure of superior edge of embryonic fissure.it usually presents itself as a unilateral ,solitary, ,grey white excavation of optic disc mostly in inferotemporal quadrant of nerve head.
ocular coloboma is caused by defective closure of embryonic fissure.in the fundus the variability involves size of coloboma and involvement optic disc and fovea
