FP0851 : Long Term Outcomes Of Intra-Corneal Ring Segments with Corneal Cross-Linking in Keratoconus

Abstract

Purpose:To assess the long term visual and topographic outcomes of intra-stromal corneal ring segment (ICRS) in keratoconus
Methods:A retrospective record review for 2011 to 2016 with >5 year follow up data was done . The visual acuity, refraction, anterior and posterior segment findings, and Corneal topography data (Pentacam HR) were noted at baseline & follow-ups at 1 month, 1 yr, 5 yr and 10 yr (if available) .
Results:25 eyes of 21 patients with mean age 25.8±5.5 yrs underwent ICRS with corneal cross-linking & had mean follow up of 7.1 yrs. The mean sphere, cylinder, MRSE, mean keratometry and Kmax showed significant improvement (p<0.05). The BCVA improved from 0.29 logMAR to 0.19(p<0.05). Three cases underwent ICRS explant for corneal melt but none had a loss of BCVA.
Conclusion:ICRS improves the visual and topographic outcomes in keratoconus; however a lifelong follow-up for complications is warranted.
