FP0830 : OUTCOME OF PRIMARY TRABECULECTOMY WITH MITOMYCIN-C (0.02%) IN JUVENILE OPEN ANGLE GLAUCOMA PATIENTS

Abstract

PURPOSE: To analyze the success and complications of primary trabeculectomy with MMC in JOAG patients.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: This was a retrospective observational study. We included 53 eyes of 35 patients. The primary outcome measure was success, defined as complete, if IOP was >5 and ≤21 mmHg without AGMs or overall with or without AGMs. Secondary outcome measures were mean and percentage IOP reduction, number of AGMs and complications.
RESULTS: The mean age at presentation was 29.86 ± 6.87 years. The percentage of complete success was 77.35% at 1 year, 36% at 3 years and 33.33% at the end of 5 years. The percentage of overall success was 86.79% at 1 year, 80% at 3 years, and 73.33% at 5 years. The mean IOP reduced from 35 ± 10 mmHg to 13 ± 2.5 mmHg 1 year after trabeculectomy. Mean number of AGM reduced from 3.43 ±1.11 to 0.26±0. Hypotony was seen in (6/53) 11.32 % subjects.
CONCLUSION: Primary trabeculectomy with MMC in Indian eyes have good success rate in JOAG patients.
