Abstract

Aim:To corelate the surgical dosage of inferior oblique recession in accordance to grade of IO overaction as shown by overelevation in adduction
Material and Methods: Patients who presented to paediatric ophthalmology dept of a superspeciality hospital in SouthIndia with primary or secondary IO overaction had basic exam & 9gaze PBCT, and grading of overaction from 1 to 4.Recession of IO was done according to the grade, with grade 3 and 4 overaction having anteriorisation by 1 or 2 mm.Amount of correction of hypertropia and collapse of V pattern are corelated.
Results:There were 30patients,16 male &14 female :mean age11.9yrs.Mean duration of squintin was 9.7yrs.23 were exo &7esodeviations.Mean vertical deviation preoperatively was 18.5pd which reduced to 5.33 pd after surgery.Vpattern collapsed by 20 pd in 80% of the cases.14 patients had head tilt resolved
