Abstract
Endothelial Keratoplasty has superseded standard PKP in adults for treating Endothelial Dysfunction but despite multitude of advantages EK has undergone a slower adoption in pediatric patient.Aim:to highlight the visual outcome of DSEK in children & assoc surgical challenges. Methods: Children having CHED, Failed PK & Toxic Endothelitis were prospectively followed for visual acuity, corneal thickness & complications. the pts were evaluated pre-op for Visual acuity, Slit-lamp &ASOCT. Postop follow up was done at day 1, 7, wks 4,12 and 6 mths. Discussion: the challenges during preop work up, intraop .& postop management is to be discussed along with outcome in pediatric age gp. Conclusion: DSEK performed in Pediatric eyes with Endothelial Decompensation allows gradual restoration of corneal clarity while minimizing intraop &postop complications. It has been proven that endothelial keratoplasty is a feasible option in Pediatric age in comparison to Conventional PK.
