Abstract
INTRODUCTION:Ectopic cilia are one or more lash follicles appearing in an abnormal position within the eyelid, most typically on the lateral quadrant of the anterior surface of the upper eyelid. Ectopic cilia are very rare in humans.
CASE HISTORY:We report a case of ectopia cilia in a 7-year-old boy(12Th Case Report In The World), who had presented with complaints of a tuft of hair on the right upper eyelid since birth. He had no complaints of defective vision. Family history was nil significant. General examination of the child did not reveal any other anomalies. Ophthalmological examination revealed a tuft of densely grouped hairs seen along the lateral part of the right upper eyelid. Eversion of the eyelid revealed a normal palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva. There was no ptosis; no proptosis, inferior displacement, or palpable orbital mass.Vision was 6/6 in both eyes. MRI did not reveal any other anomalies.Excision of ectopia cilia was done followed by histopathological examination.
