Abstract

Study design:Prospective interventional Purpose:To report a 4-year follow-up case of recurrent orbital liposarcoma and outline the heterogeneity in its management Methods:A 23-year-old female presented with left eye (LE) painless proptosis for a year. Over the course of next two years,patient was biopsied/debulked 3 times. A final diagnosis of well differentiated liposarcoma was made.Due to the close relation of the mass to lateral/inferior recti,the last debulking was subtotal Result:Throughout the course, patient maintained good vision and no metastasis was noted. Given the good prognosis of this subtype and patient’s refusal for exenteration,a close follow-up is being done. Conclusion: Orbital liposarcoma is a rare entity and its diagnosis might be delayed due to non-specific radiologic features. Exenteration after a definite histopathological diagnosis is the best treatment modality, but in cases with good vision and well differentiated subtype, it is reasonable to monitor closely.
