Abstract
Purpose:To study the safety and efficacy of Brolucizumab in treatment of recalcitrant macular edema in Indian population Design:Retrospective study between July 2021 and December 2022.Methods:Patients with poor or no response to at least 2 consecutive monthly doses of Bevacizumab were injected with Brolucizumab (6mg/0.05ml).Outcomes measured were visual acuity,resolution of macular edema,CFT.Patients were followed monthly for first 3 months & then for 6 months.Results:25 eyes of 24 patients were included.Indications were ARMD 9(36%), DME 13(52%)&RVO 3(12%).15(60%) were males with mean age 59.12 ± 9.36 years.23(92%) eyes out of 25 showed response to Brolucizumab and 17(68%) showed complete resolution of macular edema.The CFT showed 60.83% reduction from the baseline.Average no of injections were 1.4 ± 0.918.The average injection interval was about 4.5 ± 1.29 months for brolucizumab.Conclusion:Brolucizumab is safe & efficacious in eyes that have become recalcitrant to Bevacizumab.
