FP0543 : Efficacy of adalimumab in non- infectious uveitis: a study at a tertiary care center in South India

Abstract

Study design: Retrospective observational
Purpose: To describe efficacy of adalimumab in non-infectious uveitis.
Methods: The EMR of patients with uveitis were reviewed retrospectively. The visual improvement and ocular inflammation were assessed according to the SUN criteria before and after treatment with adalimumab.
Results: 43 eyes of 26 patients were included. The mean age of patients was 16.98 ± 15.01 years. There were 14 (53.85%) males and 12 (46.15%) females. The mean no. of adalimumab injections given were 22.21 ± 13. The mean follow-up duration was 20.70 ± 14.66 months. Disease inactivity was achieved in 42 (97.7%) eyes. BCVA improved from 0.45 ± 0.54 logMAR at baseline to 0.24 ± 0.32 at last visit (p=0.016). Disease remission was achieved in 32 (74.4%) eyes at 3rd month (p=0.027).
Conclusion: Adalimumab is effective in the treatment of non-infectious uveitis by achieving disease inactivity, reducing the recurrence rate and improving BCVA. The drug is safe and well tolerated.
