Abstract

Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis (EV) is an autosomal recessive dermatological genetic disorder of the immune system, primarily affecting the extremities with rare presentations of involvement of the face and the periocular region.

We present a young 19-yr-old adult with recurrent warty lesions of the extremities and of the face since eight years of age. Ophthalmic examination revealed bilateral periocular multiple verrucous papules and plaques. He was successfully treated with surgical excision and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of EV. The patient was initiated on systemic Retinoids for his cosmetic needs and symptomatic relief. He did not show any recurrence till 12 months of follow up.

Surgical and medical management has limited role in patients with EV and they need lifelong psychological support and counselling on the prognosis and nature of the disease apart from close monitoring for recurrence or malignant transformation.
