Abstract

A 52 year old male,with uncontrolled diabetes, presented with pain in the left eye.On examination large full thickness defect in the upper lid with whitish structure resembling bone completely covering the LE. CT scan revealed osteolytic erosion of the frontal bone and frontal sinus, supraorbital rim of orbit,multiple large sequestrums noted in frontal bone and impression of acute on chronic osteomyelitis of frontal bone and frontal sinusitis was made. Patient underwent excision of osteomyelitic bones with aggressive debridement of all necrotic tissues and transposition of vascularised pedicle of temporalis muscle to the frontal sinus.Histopathology revealed Mucormycotic osteomyelitis. Despite improvements in antibiotic and surgical options, sinusitis still carries a risk of fatal complications.
