FP0440 : Lets Go Retro: The Beautiful World of Retro Modal Images

Abstract

Study Design:
Descriptive study of general OPD patients being examined for retinal pathology.
Purpose:
To observe the diagnostic potential of retro-mode scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (RM-SLO) for evaluation of different retinal pathologies.
Methods:
Nidek Mirante multimodal imaging platform was used for ocular assessment. Simultaneous comparison of retro mode illumination (RMI) images and colour fundus photos (c-CFP) was done.
Results:
Retro-mode improves the detection rate of some chorioretinal abnormalities that are not identified with conventional en-face retinal imaging modalities. The sense of elevation or depression in captured structures; revealed a distinct pseudo-3D pattern of lesions.
Conclusion:
The discussed images underscore the utility of the novel retro-mode as an effective technique for identifying prevalent retinal conditions, including the presence of drusens, CSR, PED, or choroidal rupture.
