FP3160 : Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis amongst Health care workers – knowledge, attitude and practice pattern

Abstract

Background- There had been a sudden outbreak of pink eye in the general population. To our surprise, despite the knowledge, awareness, and proper precautions, the disease spread among the healthcare workers as well.
Methods- We conducted a questionnaire-based cross-sectional study to understand the KAP of Healthcare professionals towards the epidemic keratoconjunctivitis from august 2023 to October 2023 in India.
Results- A total of 1768 participated in the study from all over India. 901 were female and 866 were male. 50.8% were doctors, rest were other healthcare workers. 40.8% of the participants were aged between 31 and 40 years. Overall, the percentage of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis knowledge score ranged between 66% and 100% with a median (interquartile range [IQR]) of 80% (76%–88%). Although the safety precaution attitude toward epidemic keratoconjunctivitis was highest among ophthalmologists aged over 40 years, the difference did not reach statistical significance.
