FP3127 : Management of acute hydrops in keratoconus with anterior segment optical coherence tomography(ASOCT)

Abstract

Study design:Case Report
Purpose:To investigate and manage a case of acute hydrops in keratoconus using AS-OCT
Methods:Patient presented in OPD where he underwent examinations and testing with AS-OCT.
Results:A 53 year/M came with watering, redness, pain and diminution of vision in right eye since 6 days.BCVA in right eye is finger counting ½ metre and left eye is 6/9 on Snellen’s chart. The right eye shows a conical protrusion with scarring, thinning, multiple bullae involving the cornea.AS-OCT showed CCT of 590 microns with the edematous cornea showing 915 microns with multiple epithelial bullae, stromal fluid clefts and break in the Descemet’s layer in the involved area. A management plan of hypertonic solution and ointment resulted in reduction of his symptoms along with improvement in visual acuity which also correlated with the corneal changes by serial AS-OCT on subsequent follow ups.
Conclusion:AS OCT is a useful diagnostic modality for management acute hydrops with keratoconus.
