Abstract

The trial frame & lens set is a basic tool every ophthalmologist should use regularly. But its design has not been updated or improved for decades. It still consists of a bulky & uncomfortable trial frame & a huge lens set. The frame is difficult to adjust for the ophthalmologist & difficult to wear for the patient. We designed a new model with the help of 3D-print prototyping and design principles to make the ultimate portable trial frame set. The frame sits snugly stable on the patient's face without the need for much adjustment or manipulation. It's bubble level allows you to monitor that the frame & patient's face are horizontally level to avoid errors. Lenses can be placed & removed easily. Cylindrical lenses can also be rotated very easily.
Trial lenses are compactly packed while also being readily accessible thus making the whole set very portable while refraction testing speed is faster. Hope this innovative design brings about a revolution in manual refraction testing.
