Abstract
Study design-Randomised control study
Purpose-To compare rectus recession surgeries in regard to the technique, post op results and complications to ensure better outcomes after surgeries and minimize risks.
Methods: Patients were examined for the type and degree of strabismus. Written consent was taken. Routine pre op investigations done and patients were taken for respective surgery. Proper follow up was done about degree of correction and any intraoperative or postoperative complications.
Result: No significant difference between the post op squint correction by two methods.
Intraoperative complications like scleral perforation, slipped or lost muscle not documented in either group. However, as hang back recession avoids the scleral pass, it is a safer technique than conventional recession, reducing the incidence of scleral perforation.
Conclusion: Thus, hang back recession should be considered as an effective and safe alternative technique to the conventional recession for squint.
