Abstract
Study design-Single center prospective observational study
Purpose:To evaluate the ocular anterior segment changes in pregnancy
Methods: 33 pregnant women in the age group of 20-30 years and 33 age matched controls. parameters such as K1,K2,CCT, CV,CD,ACD, ACV,ACA in the 1st and 3rd trimester and in the 1st visit and follow up for cases
Results – We found a statistically significant increase in CV, ACD, ACV, ACA and statistically significant decrease in corneal density and IOP in the third trimester of pregnancy compared to the first trimester. An inversely proportional relationship between CV, CCT and IOP was seen which was statistically significant. An inverse relationship between CD and CCT was seen in my study. A directly proportional relationship was seen between ACD and ACV. No such changes were seen in controls
Conclusion – There is a need to differentiate between physiological and pathological changes in pregnancy, as mostly these changes are physiological.
