Abstract
Aim: To identify the different ocular manifestations of prolonged screen time in paediatric age group
Study design: Cross sectional, observational
Materials and methods: The study is an observational cross-sectional study via a semi-structured, pre-tested questionnaire directed to consenting parents of 237 patients of under-18 patients of both sexes presenting in the Ophthalmology OPD of a tertiary care hospital in Southern Assam over the time period of August to September 2023.
Results: The study revealed that out of the 237 patients enrolled in the study, 56 (23.62%) patients spent less than four hours, while 109 (45.99%) spent four to six hours, 50 (21.10%) spent six to eight hours while 22 (9.2%) spent more than eight hours
Among them 71 (29.96%) had headache, 54 (22.7%) had frequent blinking of eyes, 48 (20.25%) had watering, 26 (10.97%) had myopia, 16 (6.75%) had occasional eye deviation, 11 (4.64%) had convergent squint and 3 (1.27%) had hypermetropia
