Abstract
AIM: To compare the safety & efficacy of tacrolimus ointment with dexamethasone ointment for SEIs MATERIAL AND METHODS: This is hospital based observational study. 51 Pts of SEIs were included. Duration of study between July 2023 to oct 2023. Pts were divided into 2 gp. Gp A receive topical tacrolimus & dexamethasone ointment twice daily in gp B. The grading of SEIs was done; 0, no infiltrates, 1 mild infiltration, 2 moderate infiltration and 3, severe infiltration. Eligibility criteria was corrected distance VA of 6/9 Snellen or worse for at least 4 wks RESULTS: There was a significant change in symptoms, vision and SEIs in both the gps. Magnitude was greater in gp A. Treatment was successful in 93.5% in gp A & 83% in gp B. In gp B, after 1.5 ± 0.24 months, 18.6%pts developed a significant rise in IOP. 6.5% in gp A & 16%in gp B had recurrence after cessation of therapy.CONCLUSION: Tacrolimus is an effective alternative to dexamethasone with low recurrence rate
