Abstract

Syphilis is sexually transmitted disease caused by spirochete Treponema pallidum.Ocular syphilis is uncommon presentation, uveitis being the most common feature. Persons living with HIV are at higher risk of developing irreversible visual impairment.
Herein, we describe case of a 57-year-old male patient who presented with sudden painless diminution of vision (both eyes), was diagnosed with ocular syphilis, and managed with alternative regime as per CDC’s STI Treatment Guidelines 2021,as he showed allergic response to injection aqueous crystalline penicillin G on drug hypersensitivity testing.
