Abstract

Myelinated retinal nerve fibres are not a rare congenital anomaly, it is discovered as an incidental finding. it appears as grey white patches with feathery margins especially in peripapillary margins. about 1% of all eyes have developmental defects called myelinated retinal nerve fibres. they can be static or dynamic, congenital or acquired. Straastma syndrome, a rare entity characterised by the traditional myelinated retinal nerve fibres, axial myopia, and amblyopia.
Conclusion : Straastma syndrome has poor prognosis indicators such as severe anisometropia, type 2 MRNF and amblyopia. Occlusive therapy can play a role in improving the vision if started early.
