Abstract
Study design: Retrospective study
Purpose:To evaluate the risk of metastatic disease &local recurrence in RB eyes treated with pre-enucleation systemic chemoreduction
Method:37 pts who underwent secondary enucleation from 2016-2023 were reviewed
Result: Of 37(23M:14F) with mean age 32.3 mths, Unilateral:bilateral was 21:16, At presentation, Grp E, 30; Gp D 7 and at 5 were orbital RB. Mean 7.7no of chemo cycles(37) & TTT+cryo(17),intravitreal chemo(2)were used prior to enucleation. All underwent enucleation+implant after avg 10.03 mths of diagnosis.HPE high risk factors were found in 9(24.32%).Adjuvant chemo(6, 16.21%), radiotherapy(2, 5.4%) and both(7, 18.92%) was given. One(2.7%) had implant extrusion, one(2.7%) had orbital recurrence; while 2(5.4%) had systemic metastasis, 2(5.4%) died at mean follow up of 24 (14-54) mths.
Conclusion: We report 2.7% orbital recurrence and 5.4% metastasis in our group of pts undergoing enucleation after mean 7.7 no of chemotherapy cycles.
