Abstract
Study Design:Retrospective case series
Purpose:To review clinico-radiological profile, histopathology and management outcomes in Retinoblastoma(RB) eyes presenting with orbital cellulitis
Methods:Retrospective chart review was done for 10RB eyes who presented with orbital cellilitis. Outcome
measures-Local recurrence, metastasis &life salvage.
Result:10 sporadic RB pts (6M, 4F)mean age of 65(52-93)monthts presented with orbital cellulitis with painful eyelid edema(10,100%) as most common presentation. Optic nerve extension was in 3(30%). 8 eyes were GrE(ICRB), 6 had CRF and 2 were orbital RB. All underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by enucleation with implant. Six (66%) had high risk foctors in histopathology and underwent adjuvant therapy. At mean f/u of 21(1-52)monts 9(90%) are alive without disease, while 1(10%)succumbed to metastatic disease.
Conclusion:Advanced RB can present with cellulitis due to tumor necrosis. With multimodal management 90% life salvage was achieved.
