FP2893 : A case of bilateral chronic anterior uveitis with multibacillary lepromatous leprosy

Abstract

Study design- hospital based cross sectional study
Purpose- to report a case of leprosy presenting with chronic anterior uveitis along with systemic lesions.
Methods- case report and systemic literature review
Result- A 52 year male presented with diminution of vision and intermittent pain in both eyes for 5 months.
O/E eyelids were thickened, keratic precipitates with occasional cells but no flare is seen in B/E. R/E A/C was shallow with 1mm solid looking hypopyon, Iris pearls and posterior synechiae. Cataractous lens in B/E. IOP 10 mmhg B/E. BCVA HMCF+.
Systemic examination showed multiple skin nodules , which after dermatological consultation and earlobe Slit Skin Smear was AFB+ and HPE of biopsy confirmed multibacillary lepromatous leprosy.
MDT MB, eyedrop topin and difluprednate was started and Ocular symptoms have shown improvement.
Conclusion -this presents an atypical presentations of uveitis due to leprosy. Diagnosis and treatment is a challenge.
