FP2877 : CORRELATION OF OCULAR & RADIOLOGICAL FINDINGS IN RHINO-ORBITO CEREBRAL MUCORMYCOSIS PATIENTS

Abstract

FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND SPONSORSHIP: Nil
Study design: Cross-sectional
Purpose: To describe the correlation of clinical ophthalmic findings with the imaging findings in patients with ROCM.
Materials and methods: This study was conducted on 45 patients with ROCM after obtaining approval from the IEC. Medical records were reviewed for demographic, ocular findings and biopsy/culture proven data. CT or MRI images were obtained and correlated with stages of Mucormycosis.
Results: Cases were categorized based on staging following the anatomical progression from nasal mucosa to brain as stage 1d, Stage 2d, stage 3b & 3 each of stage 1c, 3c and 4b. Imaging showed involvement of maxillary, ethmoid & Sphenoid sinuses. Others include Nasal cavity, orbit, Brain & face. Bony erosion seen in 2, Proptosis in 5 cases of which 1 underwent orbital decompression
Conclusion: CT & MRI shows a spectrum of findings in ROCM playing a major role in assessing the extent of involvement and complications
