FP0284 : OPHTHALMIC IMPLICATIONS FOLLOWING ORBITAL TRAUMA

Abstract

STUDY DESIGN: Prospective cross sectional study
PURPOSE–To document the clinical profile of ocular injuries in patients with history of orbital trauma following road traffic accidents
METHODS – The study was conducted from April to September 2023, for a period of 6 months at a tertiary care centre, all patients attending casualty with orbital injuries following RTA were included in study. Total of 100 cases were included in the study. Diagnosis was done based on clinical evaluation & CT scan examination
RESULT- The incidence of ocular trauma was highest in males of 21-30 yearage group.36 patients had orbital fractures. Orbital floor fracture being the commonest. 43% had Lid laceration,followed byEcchymoses&Subconjunctivalhemorrhage.
CONCLUSION- Major cause of orbital trauma in our study was due to RTA. Specific clinical examinations and imaging studies help in determining mode & extent of injury. By rendering appropriate treatment early, possible long term complications can be avoided
