Abstract

Aim-posterior polar cataracts are the challenging cases for phaco surgeon, as 20-30% of cases have been reported with posterior capsule rupture. Auther is using an innovative surgical step to avoid such complication and to have successful posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation.
Material and method – this is the study of some 102 cases of posterior polar cataracts which have been examined meticulously to identify the signs of potential risk of posterior capsule rent , were operated by same surgeon step by step and finally the floating sign is elicited to avoid posterior capsule rent to have successful surgery .
The results of posterior polar cataract with different signs of potential risk factors will be discussed and how to elicit the sign will be shown surgically to avoid complication, of PCR which reduced to 1.9% only in this study
conclusion the surgery with floating sign reduces the risk of PCR substantially .
