FP2724 : Trans-scleral uveal resection in ciliary body tumour

Abstract

Design: retrospective case series
Purpose: Outcome of trans-scleral uveal resection in localised ciliary body tumours
Method: 2 cases of incidentally diagnosed ciliary body tumour with secondary angle closure and was confirmed on Ultrasound Biomicroscopy (UBM) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). They were managed with localised trans-scleral partial lamellar sclerouvectomy followed by Histopathological examination (HPE) of specimen and repeat UBM and MRI for recurrences.
Results: case-1 was 6mm mass, pigmented epithelial adenocarcinoma on HPE (UBM, MRI-ill defined margin) and 4mm ciliary body melanoma on HPE in case-2 (UBM,MRI well defined margin). UBM showed hyperechoic mass in both cases. No intraoperative complications encountered. No residual tumour or recurrence in post-operative period. No drop in visual acuity noted.
Conclusion: trans-scleral uveal resection is an effective diagnostic and treatment modality in localised ciliary body tumours
