FP2651 : Changes in retinal bloodvessel density in POAG after IOP reduction by medical management using OCT-A

Abstract

Aim:To document optic nerve head (ONHvD), peripapillary (PPAvD) and macular (MvD) vascular density by Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) before & after IOP reduction by medical management in POAG patients
Methods:This was a prospective observational study. OCT-A scans for analysis of the ONHvD, PPAvD & MvD were done at baseline, 2 weeks, 1 month & 3 months after treatment
Results:24 eyes of POAG patients were studied. At 3 mths IOP significantly decreased (41.6%) from 24.79+/ 3.63 mmHg to13.58 ± 2.04 mmHg (p=<0.001). ONHvD improved from 54.71 ± 5.01 % to 57.11 ± 4.66 % ( p=0.005) & MvD improved from 59.31 ± 2.50 to 61.24 ± 3.20 (p=0.002) at 3 mths compared to baseline. There was no correlation with the extent of improvement of ONHvD or MvD with the magnitude of reduction in IOP. PPAvD showed improvement though not statistically significant
Conclusion:There was a significant increase in ONHvD & MvD at 3 mths after IOP reduction with medical management in POAG patients
