Abstract
STUDY DESIGN-Prospective observational study. PURPOSE-To compare mesopic visual acuity, contrast sensitivity and glare acuity between PDEK and OPK. METHODS-Patients who come for review any time between 6 months to 1 year following keratoplasty are identified.Visual acuity in mesopic luminance with glare on(4m) and glare off mode at a distance of 4m, intermediate 66cm and near 40cm is assessed along with contrast sensitivity at 4m of spatial frequencies of 1.5,3,6,12 cpd using Clinical Trial Suite software. RESULTS: Visual acuity after PDEK(0.56+/-0.3,p<0.03) was statistically significant than OPK. Mesopic contrast sensitivity at intermediate spatial frequencies(6cpd and 3cpd)(log (-1.65 + 0.39) (-1.77 + 0.32),p<0.02) was better in PDEK compared to OPK. CONCLUSION-Uncorrected Visual acuity was significantly better after PDEK compared to OPK and mesopic contrast sensitivity at intermediate spatial frequencies(3cpd and 6cpd) was better in PDEK compared to OPK.
