FP1417 : Risk factors for dry eye in intensive care unit patients

Abstract

Purpose: To estimate the proportion and risk factors of dry eye in ICU patients
Study design: Prospective descriptive study
Sampling technique: Consecutive sampling
Results: Proportion of patients who developed dry eye because of ICU stay in my study was found to be between 8.9% to11.3%.
Conclusion: My study showed that ICU patients were more susceptible to dry eye at any age due to multidrug therapy, artificial ventilation and poor GCS.
Dry eye syndrome and its complications which were more common among critically ill patients admitted in intensive care unit can be prevented by early diagnosis and prompt good ocular care.
