Abstract

A 9 year old Female child was brought to O.P.D with swelling in the lateral aspect of right upper eye lid since one month.She was treated with antibiotics and anti inflammatory agents at local hospital. Swelling subsided initially but recurred after a week.O/E,VA was 6/6 in both eyes.RE swelling 3 cm x 1cm in the upper eye lid which is firm in consistency,mobile,non tender,attached to skin not to underlying structures.No local rise in temperature/ erythema,No regional lymphadenopathy.BE anterior segment and posterior segment was WNL.Systemic examination was WNL,Blood examination – 12% eosinophilia,Xray PNS-No bone erosion.On excision of lesion under LA, white worm,7cmlong,thread like structures was obtained.on laboratory examination, it is found to be parasitic granuloma showing tissue–eosinophilia and Focal degenerated Dirofilaria is seen.A course of Diethyl carbamazine at 6mg/kg/day for 14 days.The swelling was subsided and resolved completely after a month.
