FP2333 : Comprehensive Study on Prevalence, Risk Factors, and Treatment Outcomes of ROP in tertiary hospital

Abstract

Study design: Retrospective cohort analysis
Purpose: To study the prevalence, risk factors and treatment outcomes of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in tertiary care centre in Uttar Pradesh
Methods: Infants screened for ROP in 3 years were classified according to ICROP and fundus photographs were captured by Retcam-3NETRA NEO FORUS.
Results: The prevalence of ROP was 27.7%. Maternal risk factors, such as gestational age (77.3%), preeclampsia (4.8%), and history of blood transfusion (37.8%) were assessed. Neonatal factors such as delivery mode (69.2% NVD), birth weight (65% <1500 gram), oxygen supplementation (88.6%), and sepsis (33%). Low APGAR score (at 1 minute) (mean 3.96 +/- 0.52) was positively correlated with severity of ROP. Intervention was taken according to ETROP and BEAT study.
Conclusion: The use of APGAR score by neonatologists can help in timely screening and earlier diagnosis of the pathology, therefore reducing the prevalence and morbidity of the disease.
