FP2281 : Scleral fixated Aniridia intraocular lens in severely traumatized eyes and congenital aniridia eyes

Abstract

Study design: Retrospective study. Purpose: To evaluate intervention rates and visual acuity improvement. To observe intra and postoperative long-term complication rates. Methods: Consecutive eyes with severe ocular trauma and congenital aniridia needing posterior segment surgery followed by rehabilitation procedures were reviewed from 2017-2022. Complete vitrectomy with implantation of ‘QV Aniridia IOL’ was placed in all eyes. Results: Total 14 eyes underwent intervention and all had follow-ups ranging from 10-60 months. All traumatic eyes had LP vision and improved to mean BCVA of 6/18 Snellen lines. Five out of 14 eyes needed anti glaucoma medication to control intraocular pressure. No intraocular inflammation persisted beyond 6 weeks. Conclusion: Post lens implantation interventions were insignificant favoring aniridia IOL in severely traumatized eyes. Post-op inflammation is insignificant and, secondary glaucoma can be managed conservatively without compromising outcomes.
