FP2223 : Compare the Efficacy of Post Subtenon Steroids vs Intravit AntiVEGF Avastin in Diabetic MacularEdema

Abstract

Method: A total of 49 eyes were Retrospectively enrolled (23 eyes with intravitreal Avastin and 26 eyes with Post. Subtenon Triamcinolone Acetonide). Main endpoints included BCVA, CMT & IOP before and after treatment at 3 and 6 months.

Result: At 6 months, the BCVA was significantly better in the IVIA group (poorer baseline BCVA Adusted). Both groups mean CMT significantly improved, from 478µm at baseline to 300µm in IVIA group and from 459µm to 319µm in PSTA group. This was not different between the groups at 6 months (p=0.068). Recurrence of macular edema was not different between the groups either (p=0.09) . Significant elevation of IOP was noted at 3 months in the PSTA group which was medicaly managed by AGM, but declined at 6 months.

Conclusion: IVIA seemed to achieve better BCVA compared with PSTA at 6 months. The CMT(post 6 months) and the recurrence of Macular Edema was comparable. PSTA resulted in transient IOP elevation at 3 months which declined to baseline by 6 months.
