Abstract
Design – Retrospective observational study
Purpose: Torpedo maculopathy (TM) is a rare congenital anomaly of Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) with limited reports.
Methods – Seven eyes of seven patients were included. Parameters were Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA), Ophthalmoscopy, Fundus autofluorescence (FAF) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).
Results- Mean age was 33.28±17.11 years. BCVA was 20/20. Torpedo lesion occupied temporal parafoveal area in 6 patients and subfoveal in 1 patient. Mean dimension was 5.76 sqmm. FAF exhibited central hypo-autofluorescence with hyper-autofluorescent margin. OCT demonstrated Ellipsoid zone disorganization in three patients. Outer retinal cavitation with neurosensory detachment and outer nuclear layer thinning were seen in 4 patients. 2 had inner retinal thinning. Pachychoroid vessels in 3 patients and fellow eye optic disc pit in one were observed
Conclusion- Morphological and OCT characterization of seven cases of TM is described.
